Kickshaw Theatre Presents a Staged Reading of "Jerusalem Is Beautiful" by Elisabeth Franke

Friday November 10, 2017: 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm -- Westgate Branch: West Side Room

This event is intended for grade 9 - adult

Kickshaw Theatre & AADL invite you to a staged reading of "Jerusalem Is Beautiful," an award-winning new drama by Elisabeth Frankel.

“Sometimes the world’s just too big. All you can handle is the room you’re in.”

In the middle of the night, two young American peace activists – one Jew, one Muslim – unexpectedly meet, both of them on the cusp of an irreversible political decision. Throughout the evening, the two unlikely friends debate current events, reveal personal tragedies, and come to a surprising mutual understanding.

“Jerusalem is Beautiful” was the winner of the 12th Annual New Jersey Playwrights Competition; and was also a finalist for the 2015 New York Jewish Plays Project.

Kickshaw Theatre is Ann Arbor’s new non-profit professional theatre and operates under an agreement with the Actors’ Equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers. Kickshaw prides itself on exciting the curiosity of audiences and artists with plays that represent humanity in all its complexity and multitudes.
