Described Video DVDs
WLBPD @ AADL houses an on-site collection of Described Videos (comedy, drama, action, mystery, children, and more) in DVD format. Described Videos are movies in which the visual elements are described Ð the action, characters, locations, costumes, and sets Ð without interfering with the movieÕs dialogue or sound effects. Descriptive audio tracks (often referred to as DVS) allow those with low or no vision to enjoy movies by narrating what is taking place on screen without disrupting the dialogue or soundtrack. The descriptive track is an optional feature found in slightly different parts of the menu on each DVD.

WLBPD @ AADL will host a celebration to commemorate our 5th year serving as a subregional library of the national network of libraries serving the blind and physically disabled. The celebration will be held in conjunction with an opening reception for the American Printing House MuseumÕs traveling exhibition: 

Child in a Strange Country: Helen Keller and the History of Education for the Blind and Visually Impaired 

Ann Arbor District Library Director Josie Parker and American Printing House Museum Director Michael Hudson will be onsite to welcome you to this special event!

VISIONS 2014: WhatÕs New In Technology for the Blind & Visually Impaired
A variety of Michigan exhibitors will demonstrate the latest products and services for the blind and visually impaired. Magnifiers, electronic readers, Braille devices, library services, CCTVs, leader dogs, support services for the blind and transportation services are just a few of the many outstanding services and products on display.
