Fitness at the Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living

Are you trying to meet your fitness goals? The Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living can help! They have free open gym hours Monday through Friday from 10am to 4:30pm which includes access to an outdoor basketball hoop!

On Thursdays, May 4 through June 29th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm there will be a free Strength and Conditioning Class. Participants will learn about exercise equipment and make progress towards fitness goals in a guided session. Registration is required.

There will be a Seated Aerobics Class from May 8th to June 28th on Mondays from 10 to 11am and Wednesdays from 5 to 6pm (no class on May 17th). Don’t be fooled: This workout firms and burns much more than you’d think! It will raise your heart rate and help you burn calories, loosen up stiff joints, and increase your strength, power, flexibility and ability to perform everyday tasks. Registration is required.

They are also offering free One-on-One Fitness Consultation Sessions! During a scheduled consultation, participants will discuss fitness concerns and learn how to best approach their fitness journey.

Crisis Text Line

Need someplace to turn during a crisis? Looking for some support during a difficult time? Now you can contact the Crisis Text Line by texting 741741. You'll be greeted by an automated message and then connected with a crisis counselor who will help you sort through the situation. The service is free but messaging rates apply if you do not have service though Verizon, Sprint, AT&T or T-Mobile. Interested in learning more about how the Crisis Text Line works? Youth in Transition to Adulthood Support Group

Children’s Special Health Care Services and The Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living will be co-sponsoring a Youth in Transition to Adulthood Support Group for youth with disabilities and chronic illnesses and their parents. This fun and informative group will be meeting during the first week of the month in January, February, June, and August and later in the months of April and September. The meetings will take place from 6:30 to 8:00 at The Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living in Conference Room A. The next meeting is on February 2nd and will feature a presentation on financial literacy. Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living Open Gym

Winter is here! Do you have a fitness plan? Start today by attending an orientation at the Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living Open Gym and setting a fitness goal before the New Year is here. To attend open hours at the gym you must go through orientation with a staff member. Each orientation session runs for an hour. Orientations will be held at the following times:

December 19, 2016 at 3pm
December 20, 2016 at 6pm
